TRUCKING JOBS - STRONG OCTOBER, REVISED SEPTEMBER SIGNAL GROWTH
Trucking Jobs Continue to Rise
Trucking added 3,000 jobs in October, according to the latest Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics figures, and revisions to September’s figures turned that month’s originally reported 3,600 job loss into a 1,800 job gain.
With October’s figure and the September revision, trucking has now added jobs in four straight months.
Trucking employment stands at 1.46 million as of October. Transit and ground passenger transportation, meanwhile, shed 800 jobs in October, and has now lost jobs in three of the last four months.
Employment stands at 465,000 as of October.
The transportation and warehousing sector as a whole, which includes trucking and ground transportation, added 7,500 jobs in October.
The economy as a whole added 161,000 jobs in the month.
