TRAILER RECALL ADDS 9,000 MORE UNITS TO ORIGINAL 30,000

Over 9,000 more trailers from multiple manufacturers are being recalled in connection with Bendix’s recall of over 190,000 SR-5 trailer spring brake valves.

The latest recall follows last month’s recall announcement of more than 30,000 trailers from 11 separate manufacturers for the same issue.

Bendix notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on May 10 about a voluntary recall of SR-5 spring brake valves manufactured between January 1, 2014 and March 4, 2016.

Bendix says, “Under a combination of a unique set of circumstances, it is possible (though not probable) for an internal leakage to develop in the SR-5 unit, resulting in slow-to-apply spring brakes when parking the trailer.”

Bendix also recently announced availability of a no-cost permanent remedy kit to enable repair of the spring brake valves. A list of the trailers in the latest recall can be found here.
