FMCSA GIVES SCAMMED GEORGIA DRIVERS 30 DAYS TO RETAKE MEDICAL CERTIFICATION

Georgia Truckers Who Were Scammed Have 30 Days to Fix It

Hopefully you weren't one of the Georgia truckers who got scammed.  If so, then 1) We're sorry, and 2) Keep reading.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has issued a public notice to an estimated 6,600 drivers who were given falsified and incomplete medical examinations by an Atlanta examiner over the past two years.

The drivers will need to be re-tested for the required physicals and FMCSA will notify each of them by mail.

The drivers will be given 30 days from the date posted in the letter to see an examiner and receive a new medical certificate from a qualified doctor or chiropractor listed on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners.

FMCSA spokesman Duane DeBruyne advises that “Drivers that fail to obtain medical requalification within the 30-day time period will be medically disqualified from operating.”

DeBruyne recommends that drivers immediately check their medical examiner's certificate, even before they receive a notice in the mail, to determine if their examiner was the Georgia chiropractor.

“If affirmative, seek re-testing by a NRCME (National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners) practitioner as soon as possible.” Most of the drivers who are affected by this problem live in Georgia, but FMCSA has found that drivers from 48 states have been impacted.
