COMMENT PERIOD EXTENDED BY 1 MONTH FOR POTENTIAL FMCSA, FRA SLEEP APNEA RULE
Interested parties will have one extra month — until July 8 — to submit comments on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) and the Federal Railroad Administration’s (FRA) potential sleep apnea rule.
The agencies say the extension will allow time for review of American Transportation Research Institute’s (ATRI) sleep apnea survey released last month.
In March, the FMCSA and FRA issued an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) seeking information on moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea safety implications, as well as the potential costs and benefits of regulatory actions to address the risk.
The agencies list 20 questions interested parties should answer in their public comments. The agencies have also held three public listening sessions. Interested parties can comment here.
